# Schedules

> Run device actions on a time-based schedule.

The **Schedules** tab automates your devices by **time** — run an action at a set
time, on the days you choose, without being there.

## What you can schedule

* Send a command to a device at a specific time
* Repeat on chosen days (daily, weekdays, a custom set)
* Apply threshold updates on a schedule

## Examples

* Turn the porch light on at sunset, off at midnight
* Run the irrigation pump every morning at 6:00
* Raise a thermostat setpoint on weekday mornings

Each schedule shows its name and status; you can add, edit, and remove schedules
from this tab.

  **Schedules vs. Rules:** use [Rules](/app/rules) for *conditional* automation
  ("if a value crosses a threshold"), and Schedules for *time-based* automation
  ("at 6:00 every day").
