# Metadata

> Custom attributes and fields for your product.

The **Metadata** tab (Docs → Product Metadata) lets you attach custom attributes
and fields to your product — extra information beyond the core details, stored as
key/value data on the product.

## What it's for

* Define **custom attributes** specific to your product
* Keep structured product information in one place
* Surface values that firmware, dashboards, or integrations can reference

If no metadata is defined yet, the tab prompts you to add your first attribute.
